Dr. Walid Shahrour has completed his undergraduate degree with honours from McGill University. He studied Microbiology and Immunology. He then went on to study medicine at McGill University and finished in 2009. He underwent his residency training in the division of urology in McGill University and obtained his FRCSC certificate in June 2014.
In July 2014, Dr. Shahrour spent one year under the guidance of the well known Dr. Sanjay Kulkarni to sub-specialize in reconstructive surgery. Dr. Kulkarni is one of the world leaders in reconstructive surgery and urethral disease.
After finishing his GURS fellowship with Dr. Kulkarni, Dr. Shahrour joined Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre in January 2016. Dr. Shahrour specializes in reconstructive surgery for urethral disease, fistulas (male/female), erectile dysfunction, male prothesis, urinary incontinence and artificial urinary sphincters.
Dr. Shahrour has been involved with multiple research projects and is still actively pursuing research in reconstructive urology.
